Artificial intelligence AI will power a couple of the new features that YouTube is adding to its video streaming platform. The major announcement made during the platform's Made on YouTube event on Wednesday was introducing a new AI Video model, enabling artists to produce backgrounds and six-second videos for Shorts.
Google DeepMind previously disclosed Veo, the AI model being used for this. YouTube now gives producers new options for using AI to develop video ideas and titles. According to YouTube, the responses from the traditional tool will be produced by sizable language models that utilize data. The internet and YouTube enable users to "dive in deeper" with their viewing content.
With features like "recommend related content," users can ask questions regarding the video they are watching or request suggestions for other content to watch that is similar to the video. As long as the video is streaming, these interactions with the AI can occur without affecting playback.
YouTube's New AI Features
The business announced in a blog post that YouTube Shorts will include the AI video production model Veo later this year. The experimental function Dream Screens, which was published in June, will be expanded upon by this tool. According to a large video streaming company, users can create live video backgrounds.
Additionally, the tool will let producers make vertical movies for Shorts that last six seconds. According to the company's use case analysis, a creator can utilize artificial intelligence AI to generate the missing footage to complete their ideal short-format film and add it to their short video. Notably, Google's AI labeling tool, SynthID, will add a watermark to movies created using the technology.
Automatic Dubbing
YouTube is also rolling out automatic dubbing, translating the vocals in videos into multiple languages. Its goal is to break down language barriers to promote localized creators to a worldwide audience.
It is being tested with a limited number of creators, but it will be made available to more users in the upcoming months. The complete list of supported languages has yet to be discovered, despite the business listing languages including Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian.
AI Organization of Comments
In this project, many comments on videos are organized and summarized using artificial intelligence AI technology. It facilitates locating and understanding discussion topics in the comment section. Open the YouTube app on your iOS or Android device and click on the comment section to test this feature.
Subjects should then sort the comments. Tap the three-dot menu to report any issues or offer feedback. Please be aware, though, that there may be variations in this AI summary's quality and accuracy.
Feedback and Rewards
To improve, YouTube wants your thoughts about their platform and other Google products. Providing you are a qualified Premium user, you may register to provide feedback. You will get a follow-up questionnaire and details about the study, such as the location and future steps if you are a good fit. After finishing the survey, you will receive a gift card to thank you for your time.
Google Experimenting with AI
Google has been experimenting with AI across several products, including Workspace, Photos, Assistant, and other consumer apps. Specifically on YouTube, the company has also experimented with several creator-focused AI features, such as tools to find music for videos and AI-powered dubbing.
"Dream Screen," a generative AI feature that lets you create a background image or video for YouTube Shorts. Additionally, the company has been rolling out several AI-powered ads that let brands target cultural moments.
